Steve Bower: Vladimir Coufal ‘so close’ to new West Ham deal

West Ham United defender Vladimir Coufal is “so close” to signing a new contract at the London Stadium.

BBC Commentator Steve Bower was covering the Czech Republic clash against Croatia this afternoon while dropping the update.

David Moyes has already had his future confirmed with the Hammers, and it appears as though his first piece of business will be doing the same for Coufal.

Speaking during live coverage of the clash, Bower dropped the update that will leave Irons fans absolutely buzzing this month.

“Here’s Vladimir Coufal, he’s so close to a new Hammers deal,” he said.

“Following his manager David Moyes.”

Perfect.

While many of his players are away at the EUROs, that hasn’t stopped Moyes from getting straight to work this summer.

Keeping the core of his squad that got us to Europe will be critical, and Coufal is one of those after his perfect maiden campaign in the Premier League.

Tomas Soucek is the Czech player that takes most of the headlines, but Coufal likes to go about his business under-the-radar, doing the hard yards.

The right-back has sorted a problem area for us in recent years, with the likes of Ryan Fredericks and Pablo Zabaleta nowhere near good enough.

With European football coming, this experience at the EUROs will only help both Coufal and Soucek, with the confidence of the right-back surely soaring with this new contract waiting.
