Stephen Warnock makes ‘£60-70m’ Jarrod Bowen claim on Sky Sports after new West Ham deal
Jarrod Bowen is worth around “£60-70million” to West Ham after he agreed a new contract at the London Stadium, according to Sky Sports pundit Stephen Warnock.
Hammers forward Bowen, 26, agreed fresh terms on a bumper deal until 2023 (8 October, BBC Sport) despite having been linked to the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Warnock, speaking live on Sky Sports on Monday (9 October, 10:52am), believes it is a decision that is right for all parties.

“First and foremost for the player, it’s one of those where happy environment, you know that you’re wanted by a football club, that you’re wanted by a manager,” he said.
“We always talk about finding the place for you and finding somewhere where you enjoy going into work every day and that’s what he seems like he’s doing.
“He seems very settled in the area, his family seem very settled. I think that’s a big thing when you’ve got that comfort around you, you go ‘you know what everything around me’s going well’.
“On the pitch it’s going fantastic and West Ham are doing fantastic then you absolutely go ‘do you know what yeah I’m going to commit to this’, and do you know what I think as well look at the progression of West Ham over the last few years you say yeah it fits well for him and for West Ham.
“They’ve tied down a player who’s potentially worth £60-70m and you say well there’s an asset that we need to keep hold of.”

Is that all?
Warnock is right with a lot of what he said in his summation. The Hammers are a great for Bowen, and Bowen is a great fit for West Ham. He really could go as an all-time great at the club if he sees out the entirety of his seven-year deal.
The only thing that can be disputed is the £60-70m price tag he reckons he’s worth. In today’s market, with the crazy fees that get thrown around willy nilly, that might be enough to buy you one of Bowen’s legs.
It is not just the fact he is continuing to prove himself as an elite Premier League player, but English footballers – as proven by Declan Rice’s £105m sale to Arsenal this summer – carry a huge premium on them.
There is clearly no thought of selling right now but if there ever was there is no way West Ham would deal at that price. And anyway, for Bowen it is better to be flourishing at an ambitious club where he is loved by fans and coaches alike.
