Stan Collymore suggests Kevin Nolan could replace David Moyes as West Ham United manager for rest of the season
Stan Collymore has suggested that Kevin Nolan could replace David Moyes as West Ham manager until the end of the season if the latter gets sacked.
Moyes is under huge pressure after a 5-1 defeat to Newcastle in midweek, with reports suggesting he could be sacked if he fails to win against Fulham on Saturday (8 April).
And writing in his Caught Offside column (7 April), Collymore admitted that he fears for the current manager but believes that current assistant manager Nolan could be the man to step into his shoes until the end of the season to rally the troops.

“I really do fear for David Moyes,” he said.
“The one excuse West Ham don’t have is the support network around the manager though.
“Moyes has got Alan Irvine and Kevin Nolan alongside him and they’re proper footballing people so whether or not the club will get rid of the manager and look to promote an interim boss until the end of the season, I don’t know, but I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if Nolan throws his name into the mix.
“He is someone who could rattle a few cages in the dressing room and rally the troops.”
Wow
David Moyes absolutely has to be sacked as West Ham manager, but if the only option to replace him is Kevin Nolan then we might be doomed.
This is a man with absolutely no experience managing a Premier League team, and he has been very little help to Moyes this season when the going has got tough.

There are several out of work managers available currently and while they may be long shots, there are also some who would surely be open to coming in and trying to save us like Sam Allardyce and Harry Redknapp.
Nolan could have a bounce effect just because Moyes is gone, but the likelihood is that we’d see more of the same and it wouldn’t help the situation.
Moyes has to go, but Nolan can’t be the man to take over, even on a short-term basis. It has to be a fresh voice and someone with fresh ideas.
We’re not down yet, so it would be suicide to throw it away with a lazy appointment like that.
