Sources close to AS Monaco make claim as West Ham United very keen to sign Youssouf Fofana
Sources close to AS Monaco have delivered a verdict on Youssouf Fofana’s transfer quest as West Ham are keen on signing him, according to Six Foot Two.
The reliable Hammers news website wrote on its website on Thursday (3 August) that the sources claim the London outfit will now be stepping up their pursuit to sign the central midfielder, 24, who’s already represented the France national team on multiple occasions.
Former Newcastle player Olivier Bernard has likened him to former Chelsea midfielder and Premier League winner N’Golo Kante.

He told the BBC’s Total Sport Newcastle United Podcast: “Youssouf Fofana is an attacking midfielder, box to box I would say, not so much creativity but work rate. We compare him to N’Golo Kante at times because he does defend hard on the ball, and he always wants to win the ball.”
Snap him up
If what Bernard is saying is true and he could do what Kante does, maybe not as efficiently, then he would be the ideal signing for the Hammers.
They need an absolute destroyer in midfield who can win the ball as high up as possible and then look to recycle position.
With Declan Rice gone, they lack that presence in the middle of the park and Fofana’s arrival will change things drastically.

This could also see Lucas Paqueta playing further up the pitch and looking to cause destruction in and around the final third for the Hammers.
It remains to be seen how much it would cost the club as David Moyes knows there’s only a certain amount the board will be willing to spend on Fofana.
Hopefully, two new midfielders are in time before the new season begins as they cannot keep delaying things for so long.
In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
