‘Sounds ridiculous’ – Mark Lawrenson predicts West Ham clash v Leicester

Mark Lawrenson has backed Leicester City to take all three points against West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.

The BBC pundit has predicted the Foxes will win 2-0 at the King Power Stadium, continuing their 100% start to the season.

Both sides come into this on the back of impressive league wins against Wolves and Manchester City, scoring nine goals between them.

Writing in his BBC Sport predictions column, Lawrenson backed Jamie Vardy to continue his impressive scoring streak in the Premier League.

“West Ham got their first league win of the season last weekend against Wolves,” he wrote.

“It was an impressive result and they deserved it because they played extremely well.

“They won’t be afraid of the Foxes, because they will sit in and deny them space to run into. That sounds ridiculous coming off the back of a 4-0 scoreline but that is the format that might give them success here too.

“I just fancy Leicester to take this one, though. Jamie Vardy is in great form and will be full of confidence after his hat-trick against Manchester City. I don’t see the Hammers keeping him out.”

West Ham

West Ham may have beaten Wolves convincingly last week, but they also were brought back down to reality in the 4-1 cup defeat at Everton.

Moyes will no doubt revert to the exact same team that played the last Premier League game, although this is a different test.

The Foxes are unstoppable at the moment, and the Irons must not let the likes of Harvey Barnes and James Maddison dictate the game or Jamie Vardy will thrive off that.

Should Moyes’ men keep Leicester quiet for the first hour, any result will be possible – but this will be a massive test of his makeshift defence.
