West Ham have the second oldest XI in the Premier League, with Fulham the only team below them, according to Sky Sports.
The British broadcaster posted on Twitter showcasing just how far below the others the Hammers are and the board has serious questions to answer for this.
The recruitment has not been the best over the last five years and new recruitment chief Tim Stedten does need to clear this mess.
David Moyes has a penchant for relying on experienced players but if that’s the only option he’s got at his disposal, then he will be forced to pick from that pool of names.
In recent seasons, a number of youngsters have left the London Stadium for clubs not necessarily considered a step up.
Things need to change behind the scenes and this leadership comes right from the boardroom and their demands to improve the youth facilities.
The average age needs to be reduced significantly as having an ageing squad is devastating for the long-term future of a club.
If they don’t improve, more youngsters will leave after a couple of years and not really see a first-team future at the club.
Hopefully, with Steidten at the helm, things will be slightly different and after Moyes, they need to bring in someone who’s good at promoting the youth and not rigid towards certain players.
