Sky Sports pundit predicts West Ham clash v Burnley
Sky Sports pundit Lewis Jones has compared recent West Ham victories to a bubble that is in ‘danger’ of bursting and expects Burnley to beat them on Monday.
The Hammers’ brilliant run of form after the January transfer window has seen them reach the business end of the season with a realistic chance of finishing in the top four.
Jesse Lingard has been seen as the main reason for revolutionising the fortunes of this high-flying West Ham side.
While their performances have wowed the neutrals, Jones remains unimpressed by their showings and expects us to fall off a cliff with five games to go.
In his Sky Sports column, he predicted a 2-1 victory for the Clarets and wrote, “Is West Ham’s overperformance, according to the key metrics, starting to catch up with them?
“I’ve been banging that drum for most of the season with pretty embarrassing consequences considering the results David Moyes’ side have been pulling out of the bag.
“Their bubble is in danger of bursting when it comes to a top-six finish. And this is the last place you want to go to at the moment.
“Burnley are in bouncing form, culminating in a jaw-dropping 4-0 win at Wolves which was completely and utterly deserved in every department.”

We’re here on merit
Using these metrics it’s very easy to discredit teams, but it’s important to note that nobody would believe that we would be fighting for top four with five games to go.
Many doubted David Moyes’ capabilities, raised eyebrows at the Lingard signing, and everything else that was going on behind the scenes.
However, the squad kept their heads together and focused on their goal of a top-half finish. With that now a foregone conclusion, top four or top six seems like a more realistic outcome.
While we agree with him that Burnley will be a tough team to beat, we vehemently disagree with the fact that this a bubble waiting to burst.
Moyes has taken the team in the right direction and with more good recruitment in the summer, we would further solidify our claims to be an established top-half side.
