Sky Sports pundit blasts West Ham United fans live on air over David Moyes criticism

Stephen Warnock has blasted West Ham fans as he questioned what they want David Moyes to achieve at the club.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on Monday (26 February, 12:11pm), the pundit said Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool are the three teams who are successful in what they do and then he added Brighton into the mix, pointing out that the Hammers could go level on points with them with a victory over Brentford.

He believes the Irons boss is probably wondering if he “needs the hassle” he receives from the fans as he doesn’t understand where they want the club to be.

“I can’t sit here and talk on behalf of West Ham fans because I don’t watch them week in and week out,” said Warnock. “They pay the money to watch the team. However, there is a side of me that goes ‘what is it you’re after?’ Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool are the three teams we watch and are successful at what they do.

“Then it’s probably Brighton. Where are they in the league? West Ham are eighth if they win tonight. It’s not the worst thing if you have a style that suits your manager. You’re competing in Europe and are a top eight, top nine side in the league.

“Beyond those you have Villa, Tottenham, Newcastle – where do you sit after that? I don’t understand where you want to be. David Moyes is probably wondering if he needs the hassle of all this.”

West Ham performances haven’t been good enough

The West Ham fans have become increasingly frustrated over the past couple of months after the performances have gone completely downhill.

While most people recognise that Moyes has done an excellent job during his time at the London Stadium, what is currently being served up is completely unacceptable.

The Hammers fans were promised by the club’s hierarchy that the move away from Upton Park would take them to the next level and, while that has happened over the past couple of years, that success needs to be maintained.

There are many that also want to see their side play some better football as it appears to have gone pretty stale over the past few months.

There is no doubt that the Scotsman needs to pick up a victory in front of the home fans against Brentford if he wants to save himself from further criticism in East London.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have denied what anonymous sources have said about Moyes.
