Sky Sports footage emerges of West Ham United celebrations in London today

Footage has emerged on Sky Sports of the West Ham United celebrations on the streets of London between the players and fans after Wednesday’s historic Europa Conference League final win.

West Ham ended their 43-year wait for a major trophy with a memorable 2-1 win over Fiorentina at the Fortuna Arena in Prague [7 June], lifting their first major honour since 1980.

Jarrod Bowen proved the match-winner as the Hammers placed themselves in West Ham United folklore and took the streets of East London on Thursday [8 June] to celebrate with their fans in an open-top bus parade.

The footage shared on Sky Sports’ official Twitter page showed David Moyes and his team responding to the rapturous support.

The tweet read: “Wow. Fans have lined the streets for West Ham’s trophy parade.”

Amazing scenes

From the moment Lucas Paqueta played Bowen through with a sublime through ball, you just knew that former Hereford and Hull City man would write himself in the West Ham United history books.

It was a deserved triumph from Moyes and his men as they rode all the waves of pressure from an expansive Fiorentina side and took all their chances presented to them, despite being on the back foot for large parts of the game.

But that’s how you win finals, you don’t need to play your best football, just be efficient and ruthless when the opportunity presents itself and that is what West Ham were on the night.

The scenes in East London for the parade are simply amazing and just goes to show what a special football club the Hammers are. Fans have waited so long for this moment, especially after a difficult and disappointing Premier League campaign.

Moyes has waited 25 years for this moment and look what it means to him. Surely now, his future as West Ham United boss is, without doubt, a sure thing next season. The question is, can the Hammers build on this stunning and historic triumph?
