Sky Sports: Defender to undergo medical ahead of £5m move to West Ham
West Ham United are closing in on the signing of Slavia Prague defender Vladimir Coufal.
Sky Sports have reported that the Irons will complete a deal this week worth up to £5million for the right-back.
The switch will see Coufal link up with his former teammate Tomas Soucek at the London Stadium, who has hit the ground running expertly.
Sky Sports have reported on their live blog that Coufal will complete his medical on Thursday before sealing the move.
It is suggested that David Moyes wanted more senior defensive reinforcements, with Ben Johnson being utilised against Wolves.
Coufal is set to sign a three-year deal, as the Irons finally start to use the money brought in by the sale of Grady Diangana earlier in the window.
This £5million fee leaves Moyes and West Ham with a considerable chunk of the budget left for further reinforcements.
Ryan Fredericks picked up an injury in the 4-0 win over Wolves on Sunday, so this has come at a perfect time.
It was suggested that the right-back is aiming to return after the international against Spurs in the London derby.
Coufal will add much more experience than Johnson, with the youngster still not quite nailing a place in the side like Jeremy Ngakia did last season.
Ngakia could be kicking himself now at Watford, with this being the perfect opportunity for him to have cemented his spot in the side.
