Sinclair raves about reported West Ham target Tammy Abraham
Trevor Sinclair believes reported West Ham transfer target Tammy Abraham would be in high demand if he were to be put up for sale.
England international Abraham is Chelsea’s top goalscorer this season with 12 in all competitions.
Despite this, he is struggling for minutes under the regime of Thomas Tuchel and according to the Daily Star, he’s top of West Ham’s three-man striker shortlist for the summer.
Speaking on talkSPORT [10.15 am], Sinclair praised his ability and hinted he wouldn’t be short of suitors should he chose to move elsewhere: “I’m a huge fan of his. He’s a threat and he’s good with his pace in behind.
“His link-up play is excellent and he’s obviously a huge guy. He gets his goals. If you look at some of the top sides in the Premier League, so many of them take him.
“He’s so undervalued and that has come about because he was nurtured at the football club, and it happens a lot.
“At this moment in time, he’s (Tuchel) just not got a place for him. But if he were to be made available, there would be a queue [of clubs] – and that’s just in England.
“He would be a very, very in-demand player.”
All in for Abraham
We think a move for Abraham would be a fantastic bit of business for West Ham. It fits the bill with what Moyes is trying to build. He wants a group of exciting, homegrown players who are hungry to drive us up the table.
He’s an England international who’s scored for his country and scores goals every season, regardless of the level he’s at. After two prolific spells with Bristol City and Aston Villa in the Championship, in which he scored 48 goals in two seasons, he got his chance under Lampard.
Abraham scored eight goals in his first seven games last season, and was the top scorer in the Premier League initially. As Sinclair mentioned, his pace to get in behind and link up play make him a perfect fit for our system.
We currently have Lingard, Bowen, Benrahma, Lanzini and Fornals all able to play behind the frontman. They’re a group of players who play neat one and two touch football, and break well on the counter.
Antonio has stepped up his game massively and is benefitting massively from playing with our creative players. Abraham already has this technical ability and is a natural finisher. He could score a serious amount of goals for us, and help us maintain a top half push next season.
He is also a good friend of Declan Rice, the two played youth football at Chelsea together. With Rice set to get the armband full time, he could also play a factor in a potential move.
In other West Ham news, Lingard will be in a key battle with Luke Ayling on Monday evening as we face off with Leeds United.
