Simon Jordan warns West Ham United that they will struggle to replace David Moyes if they sack him

West Ham will struggle to find a talented manager to replace David Moyes if they choose to sack him at this stage of the season, says Simon Jordan.

The Hammers find themselves in the relegation zone after 13 defeats in 23 Premier League games this season, and reports suggest that Moyes will be sacked if they lose to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

But Jordan has warned West Ham to be wary of the pool of managers that are currently available, and to take heed from the problems Southampton and Leeds have had with finding a replacement recently.

“They’ll be in the same situation (as Leeds & Southampton),” he said live on talkSPORT (21 February, 10:29). “You ain’t going to get Pochettino and these characters to come in if you think that’s the solution.

“We’ve never had a situation like this and maybe it’s because we’ve finally exhausted that ridiculous gravy-train of spinning that carousel of these so-called fireman managers that come in and fix these problems, when actually we’ve reached the bottom of the pale when managers are getting fired at this point of the season, and there isn’t this plethora of talented managers who are going to fix the problems.”

Plan

It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that Moyes is clinging on to his job by the skin of his teeth considering results over the last 12 months.

The run in the Europa League last season has bought him a lot of time, but he has chewed that up and is now on borrowed time if you ask many fans.

West Ham

But there is no doubt that he is a good manager, and it could just be that his time at the London Stadium has run it’s course. But West Ham can’t pull the plug on his time too early if they have no plan lined up to replace him.

We’ve seen Leeds and Southampton struggle with that sort of thing recently, and especially in the case of Leeds it has caused them a lot of trouble.

Having Moyes in the dugout with his experience is surely better than having nobody at all, but as soon as a genuine candidate to replace him emerges then it has to be considered.
