Simon Jordan shares David Moyes sack verdict at West Ham United amid Ruben Amorim speculation

West Ham United manager David Moyes will “walk away” from the London Stadium on his own terms this summer, according to Simon Jordan.

The Scotsman’s current deal expires at the end of the season, with reports suggesting work has already begun in East London to find his potential successor as an approach has been made to Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim [David Ornstein, 22 April].

While talkSPORT host Jordan has repeatedly insisted that he hopes Moyes will remain in charge of the Hammers beyond the end of the season, he now admits that the 60-year-old will likely decide not to extend his contract.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Tuesday (23 April, 11:44) he said: “David I think is done at West Ham. I think he is done by his own hand, we’ve been led to believe that he has been offered a new contract but I think personally without any inside knowledge he’s going to walk away.

“His contract runs out, he announced to the media that there was a new contract in the offering and he’s not yet signed it. It may well be that he thinks his race is run at West Ham, he thinks that he’s exhausted what he can.

“His style of football doesn’t appear to appeal to what seems to be an ever-increasing number of West Ham fans. David will not be, in my view and I hope I’m wrong, at West Ham next year of his own choice, not of him being sacked.”

Will David Moyes leave West Ham United amid Ruben Amorim speculation?

As Jordan suggests, as the season has rumbled on, Hammers supporters have become more and more frustrated with Moyes’ defensive first style of football and now feel ready for a change in the dugout.

Every fan will always credit the Scotsman for his impressive achievements across his two spells in East London and nobody will ever forget the European nights over the last few years, but the time has come for a change.

Sunday’s (21 April) bleak defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park showed that the Irons simply aren’t playing to the standards required to secure European football next season. Ultimately, the buck stops with the manager.

Hopefully, Moyes will be allowed to bow out on his own terms as Jordan has suggested, that way fans can give him a proper reception come the end of the season. Then the search for a new manager really has to get going.
