Simon Jordan makes Chelsea call when asked about David Moyes future at West Ham United

Simon Jordan has suggested West Ham manager David Moyes is on the same level as Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino when asked where the boss could go after his spell in East London.

Jordan claimed the boss will not be worried by speculation over his future, or at the lack of a contract offer at West Ham despite his current deal running out at the end of the season.

It was suggested that there will be no shortage of clubs looking at Moyes if or when he leaves East London, and he has enough credit in the bank from his success at West Ham to carry elsewhere.

Jordan was speaking live on talkSPORT [13 November, 10:56] as he shared his view: “Now I think he is a manager that doesn’t need to worry about whether West Ham are going to give him a new contract.

“I think he’s got enough stock and enough credit in the bank to be able to say ‘If I’m not wanted here again, I’ll go and do what I’m doing well somewhere else.”

Jordan was then asked where he thinks Moyes could go next, to which he replied: “I don’t know, it depends on what opportunities are available.

“Who knows which managers are going to get sacked, I’m not going to forecast which particular managers are not going to be in a job next year.

“But I think any of the top… I think he’s in and around the sort of area that I suspect Chelsea’s manager Pochettino is in. A very, very capable manager, but I’m not sure you’re going to win much in terms of if you’re going to a top-six side.”

A dramatic example

Comparing Moyes to Pochettino, on paper, is somewhat of a ridiculous statement. The point is rooted in the fact that Pochettino has achieved little more than Moyes in terms of winning silverware, but the clubs that he has managed are of a higher order.

Jordan has been outspoken in his appreciation and praise for Moyes, claiming he is a far better manager now for the experience in the last few years, than he was when he joined Manchester United following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

The claim that the boss will have no shortage of clubs to choose from if they are available when he departs West Ham may be true, Moyes has shown he can build up a struggling club and turn them into a silverware contender.

However, suggestions of a big six job may be slightly out of reach. Whatever happens in terms of his West Ham future, Moyes will feel at ease in the knowledge that his time in East London has been a success.
