Simon Jordan in furious West Ham rant amid £3bn demands ahead of boycott – ‘Grow up’

Simon Jordan was left baffled by the upcoming West Ham fan protests.

West Ham are preparing to take on Brentford on Monday, but they will face a lack of attendance as supporters plan to boycott the London Stadium.

The clash against Brentford is Nuno Espirito Santo’s first West Ham home match since taking over from Graham Potter in East London.

It will be in front of a pultry crowd as West Ham fans stage a second protest at the London Stadium against David Sullivan, Karren Brady and Co.

Jordan has been less than impressed by these plans, especially after one supporter suggested a best-case scenario following these dissent measures.

Tony Cottee is unsure about West Ham protests, but that isn’t going to stop them from going ahead as the Hammers face the Bees on Saturday.

Supporters hope this will ultimately force out Sullivan and the rest of the board in E20 after years of frustration.

This has been down to a general lack of positive results in recent campaigns and the shocking atmosphere at the London Stadium.

Speaking via talkSPORT on 15 October, one fan suggested that his hope for protesting was to bring in a new owner who could then build a new stadium and take the Irons away from the Olympic Park.

Simon Jordan laughed and immediately hit back by saying: “You’re deluded, no one is going to come in and buy your football and build you a new stadium. Grow up.

No one’s going to do it, that’s silly, isn’t it. You can’t do it in London; it’s not easy to build new stadiums. Think about it, Spurs have just told you that they couldn’t build their stadium again for less than £2.5billion.

Are you seriously expecting someone to come in, get rid of someone you don’t like and then go and build you a stadium for £3bn, pack it in.

Jordan spot on to bring West Ham fans down to earth

There is no doubt that a new ground would be the ideal situation for the Hammers after nearly 10 years of annoyance at the London Stadium.

The arena was purpose-built for athletics, and this has seriously impacted the atmosphere at football matches.

Given that West Ham are paying a lease fee for the stadium, as opposed to owning it themselves, it causes issues around changes and potential improvements.

This seriously benefits the Irons’ finances, which would be ruined by building a new home away from E20.

It is pie-in-the-sky thinking to believe a new owner will come in and immediately build a new ground; fans may just have to get used to the idea of the London Stadium for the long term.
