Simon Jordan destroys West Ham United fans live on talkSPORT after 0-0 draw with Brighton

Simon Jordan has hit out at West Ham fans live on talkSPORT after the 0-0 draw against Brighton, insisting that those who wanted David Moyes sacked need to re-evaluate.

Jordan questioned whether those complaining about the style of play under Moyes would prefer to play more inspiring football that sees them plummet towards the bottom of the table.

He also pointed to what Moyes has achieved since arriving at the London Stadium, taking a 17th-placed side to European silverware and consistent top-half and European finishes.

Jordan was live on talkSPORT [3 January, 11:27] as he ranted: “Look, there is a section of the West Ham fanbase, and we see them pop up on here every time the conversation gets mooted about David Moyes that don’t like his style of football, don’t find it particularly enjoyable, and that’s their opinion.

“It’s difficult to argue that the achievements of David Moyes are not worth praise and that he shouldn’t be West Ham manager. But there is a section of the fans that believe the football is uninspiring and they don’t enjoy it.

“What would they rather have? Inspiring football that takes them to the bottom of the league? Perhaps they should give them what they want. I think David Moyes has done a remarkable job. The moment we start saying it, it’ll be a ‘media love-in for Moyes’ – come off it.

“They guy took the club when you were 17th in the league, you’re in the top six now, you’ve got more points this season than you’ve got at any stage since the Premier League was formed, you’ve got a European competition in the bag, they’re doing well in the Europa League. What is it that you want?”

The debate is almost over

While conversations will likely rage on in sections of the fanbase surrounding the style of play and whether Moyes is a fashionable choice to lead West Ham at the moment, talks over a new deal have already begun, so the debate for now will be put to bed.

West Ham

Jordan is right. West Ham don’t necessarily play pretty football as the likes of Brighton do, and perhaps some fans are envious of that, but you cannot argue with the results Moyes has earned as a result of the pragmatism he shows in his lineups.

Winning the Europa Conference League, competing in the Europa League having topped their group this season, and currently sitting sixth in the Premier League going into the new year should be more than enough to show what the boss offers to this club.

Any calls for his head at this stage are surely born from petulance and stubbornness rather than any logical thinking, and with a new deal reportedly on the table, they may have to put their concerns to bed.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have suffered yet another injury blow.
