Simon Jordan blasts David Moyes on talkSPORT for Steven Bartlett podcast appearance
Simon Jordan has blasted David Moyes on talkSPORT after the West Ham manager recently made an appearance on Steven Bartlett’s podcast, The Diary of a CEO.
Moyes touched on various topics on the podcast (16 January) where he spoke about the steps needed to build a solid culture at West Ham and shared goals for the club in the long run, among other issues.
Jordan was far from impressed and said on talkSPORT (18 January; 5.12 onwards) that Moyes is not a CEO, but a football manager. His job is to bring results on the pitch, and at the moment the Hammers are struggling to get points.

When Jim White asked him whether he deserves to stay at West Ham, Jordan suggests that the club should look at the bigger picture, and they must take decisions not based on sentimentality.
“I don’t understand where David is going with this idea. I think what he has done, he is lost himself in the company he’s in. He is sitting across the table from Steven Barlett’s dragon who’s doing a thing called The Diary of a CEO,” said Jordan on talkSPORT.
“David Moyes is not a CEO. He is a football manager. He’s disappearing into a territory always advocating for a certain look.”
“Does he deserves to stay in the job until the end of the season?” asked White.
“Not at the cost West Ham are in the Premier League,” responded Jordan.
Spot on
Moyes has done an incredible job at the club, but he is gradually losing his control.
The results have been dire and he doesn’t seem to be the right man to turn it around.
West Ham spent huge money in the summer on new players, but Moyes has failed to integrate them, although injuries have played a big part.

With the club languishing in the relegation zone, the Hammers board could pull the trigger on his future if the results don’t improve. There is a limit to which loyalty pays off, but the club need to be practical with their approach.
Moyes is a decent manager and he genuinely cares for the club. After what has been done in the past two years, he probably feels that the club should be ambitious. But his job is to get results on the pitch, and then only the owners can back him with the funds.
The Hammers will face Everton in the Premier League on Saturday (21 January), and this is a must-win game for them.
