Simon Jordan believes that West Ham could have done more in the transfer market

Simon Jordan believes West Ham could have done more in the transfer market considering Crystal Palace spent more than them.

Speaking on talkSPORT with Jim White and Trevor Sinclair, the former owner turned pundit revealed his thoughts on the Irons’ transfers, which saw them bring in a goalkeeper, a centre-back, a central midfielder, and an attacking midfielder.

However, he thinks that the Hammers could have perhaps done more, while Sinclair was happy with the business that the Irons concluded.

Sinclair said: “For me, the signings that they’ve made have been outstanding.”

Jordan then interrupted him and questioned the club’s spending: “Let’s spin it on its head; they finished sixth in the league; what should they be doing?

“Palace have spent more money than them.

“They’re in the same league, and Palace are spending £80million.

“West Ham are in a bigger stadium, with more revenues, finishing in sixth in the league with more prize money, and playing in Europe.”

Does Jordan make a valid point?

Well, given that the Irons had only signed Alphonse Areola until last week, we think they had a very strong end to the window and picked up three players in important positions.

However, if you look at it from a purely financial perspective, then you could argue that the Hammers could have spent more money.

They did fail to bring in a striker, which could come back to bite them should the Irons suffer an injury to Michail Antonio.

So, they could have spent more money on a forward, but overall, we think West Ham had a strong transfer window and deserve credit for the way they concluded their business.
