Simon Jordan: Aston Villa likelier to break into elite than West Ham
Simon Jordan claims that Aston Villa are better suited than West Ham to break into the elite and become part of a new-look top six.
The Hammers finished sixth in the Premier League last season and have enjoyed a decent transfer window, despite not signing a new striker.
Aston Villa sold Jack Grealish for a club record fee and used that money to strengthen in other departments.
Jordan, on talkSPORT [02/09/21], discussed which of the two were more likely to break into the elite.
He said: “Aston Villa are arguably a bigger club than West Ham.
“If you look back at the achievements on paper, I think you can make a strong case for Villa, even the supporters.
“Villa with the owners, they have a sporting background and the money to burn and the propensity to do it so I think they are better heeled to launch than West Ham.”
Makes no sense
We’ve seen clubs spend crazy amounts of money and still fail to deliver results.
Villa’s spend this summer is more inflated than it usually would be as they’ve got a ridiculous amount from Manchester City for Grealish.

The Hammers, on the other hand, addressed the weaknesses from last season, barring a striker, and are looking like a stronger team.
With Villa, having lost the services of the player responsible for carrying them time and again, they may not do as well even though they’ve got in some decent players.
The East London outfit have started the season strongly, have a better manager in David Moyes and are better suited to finish in the top six than Villa.
