Sheffield United team news v West Ham United as eight players ruled out of Premier League clash

Eight Sheffield United players are set to miss the game against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday (30 September) in the Premier League.

According to injury expert Ben Dinnery on his website Premier Injuries (28 September), manager Paul Heckingbottom has been blighted by injuries with Max Lowe, Ben Osborn, John Fleck, Rhian Brewster, Rhys Norrington-Davies, George Baldock, Ollie McBurnie and Daniel Jebbison all “ruled out” of action.

There’s also a 25 per cent chance that William Daugaard Osula will miss the game in East London on Saturday, according to Dinnery.

Redemption opportunity

West Ham United will be entering this contest off the back of Wednesday’s lacklustre 1-0 win over League One outfit Lincoln City, a performance which will not have provided any encouragement heading into this weekend’s contest.

The Hammers have lost their last two games in the Premier League, an immediate downer after starting off the campaign in brilliant fettle but there is a benefit of the doubt in that they played both Manchester City and Liverpool.

Both those games will have given Moyes an indication of where his team is at and West Ham United certainly held their own in both encounters but will be disappointed by lapses in concentration and missed opportunities that could have easily been avoided.

On their day, Moyes’ men are a match of any side in the Premier League and those two games certainly show that they are on the right track despite the results but Saturday presents a burning opportunity to register another three points.

Sheffield United are still reeling and licking their wounds from their 8-0 mauling against Newcastle United on Sunday (24 September) and that could give West Ham United all the encouragement they need to inflict further damage on Saturday on home turf.

Heckingbottom’s men certainly can’t be taken for granted but given their mounting injury concerns and lack of confidence right now, it will be incredibly disappointing if West Ham don’t win this one.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers’ next Premier League opponents have reportedly made a decision over the future of their manager.
