Sean Whetstone provides fresh injury update on West Ham United ace Niclas Fullkrug
West Ham United ace Niclas Fullkrug is expected to only be suffering from Achilles tendinitis rather than rupturing or tearing his Achilles, according to Sean Whetstone.
The reliable Hammers outlet reported this via his West Ham Football X account on 10 September and said tendonitis treatment usually only takes two to three weeks.
That is unless the case is severe, then it can take a few months. Whetstone also added that the best remedy to try and solve the issue is for Fullkrug to just rest and allow it to pass.
West Ham United will be pleased with the Niclas Fullkrug news
Of all the areas in West Ham’s squad that needed upgrading during the summer transfer window, the Hammers’ number nine was arguably the most needed.
While the club have both Danny Ings and Michail Antonio to choose from, the duo had a poor campaign last season in terms of the goals contributed to the side.
Neither of David Moyes’ strikers managed to bag 10 goals, albeit Antonio did miss a chunk of time with injury.
Hence why the addition of Fullkrug got fans excited. It was clear to see throughout the window that Julen Lopetegui was desperate for a number nine with Jhon Duran also being consistently linked.
While the Spaniard hasn’t yet started the former Borussia Dortmund man, it felt as if the striker starting his first game for the Hammers would have been on the cards in their next game, especially after the international performances of both Fullkrug and Antonio.
While two to three weeks without the German isn’t ideal, it’s far better than him being ruled out for the season.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are set to make their final John Egan decision soon.
