Sean Dyche shares update on Cornet ahead of the West Ham game

Sean Dyche has revealed that Maxwel Cornet has an “outside chance” of playing against West Ham this weekend.

The Burnley star has been the Clarets’ best player this season and has scored five goals in just nine games.

However, he was withdrawn in the first half against Newcastle United last week, and it doesn’t seem as if Dyche is that confident about the Ivorian playing.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference [Burnley Express], he said: “We are waiting to see on Maxwel, an outside chance, I would say.”

Big boost for the Irons.

Given that the rest of Burnley’s team have really struggled for goals, it would be a big boost for the Hammers if Cornet were to miss the match.

The Clarets have only scored 14 goals in the Premier League this season, so the former Lyon man is responsible for a huge chunk of their goals.

Therefore, they are a much worse side without Cornet, and if he were to miss the match, David Moyes could feel a lot more confident about his side getting another win.

Burnley do have other players who can cause problems, but Cornet is the main one, and if he doesn’t play, they offer very little upfront in truth.

So, it will be a nervous wait for Moyes as it will be for Dyche to see if Cornet plays or not.

Now, judging by Dyche’s comments, we would say it is unlikely that Cornet plays against the Irons.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers could launch a move for a Champions League player.
