Scout gushes over ‘box office’ West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus as Paul Pogba view shared
Jeremy Seethal has backed West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus to be the best African footballer in the world during his career.
Speaking to The Athletic (18 January), the news outlet spoke to scout Seethal about the African Cup of Nations tournament taking place, and who the stars of the competition may be.
And Seethal was sure with his pick of Kudus, despite competition from the likes of Mohammed Salah and Victor Osimhen, and compared his star-power in Ghana to that of Paul Pogba in France while dubbing the forward as “box office”.

“Mohammed Kudus is the star of African football,” he said.
“Ghana hasn’t had a special talent like him since Michael Essien. He is an entertainer like Jay-Jay Okocha. Without a shadow of a doubt, he will be considered the best African footballer in the world.
“You have Mohamed Salah who is coming to the end of his journey in terms of playing at the highest level.
“Then you have Victor Osimhen who is an incredible forward, but Kudus is a box office talent. You pay money to see a talent like Kudus play. Look at Kudus’ impact for West Ham. He’s already established himself as one of their best players.
“If Ghana were on the same level in world football as France, Kudus would get the same level of attention as Paul Pogba. Perhaps even more given how talented he is. Ghana finally has a player that shows why we get excited over African players.
“He will be the big hope for Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations.”
Amazing
Most people knew when the Hammers splashed the cash to bring Kudus to the London Stadium that he will be the future of the club and a top star.
His talent and ability is clear for all to see and he shone during his time at Ajax despite some limited game time, and it was no shock to see a host of top clubs linked with him during the summer window.

So when West Ham swooped and got a deal done, it was a similar scenario as to when Lucas Paqueta was signed because it was a real coup at a genuinely acceptable price.
Kudus has the ceiling and potential to carry this team on his back through dark and hard times, and his own ability should be able to push the team up the table and through tournaments because of his star power.
West Ham have a real gem on their hands in Kudus and if he reaches the level that Seethal clearly believes he may, then should he end up leaving the club then we could see Declan Rice’s record sale fee surpassed with the way the game is going.
In other West Ham news, Hammers expected to sign “Phenomenal” ex-PL star before transfer deadline.
