Sassuolo ‘accept’ West Ham United offer for Gianluca Scamacca

Sassuolo have accepted West Ham United’s bid for 23-year-old striker Gianluca Scamacca according to Sportitalia journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

Pedulla also revealed (via his personal website) on Tuesday 12 July, that Scamacca will “almost certainly” be playing Premier League football in the 2022/23 season.

Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the Hammers tabled a £33.7million bid for the Italy international.

Promising signs

West Ham seem to be moving fast in their attempts to land the Italy striker, with David Moyes desperate to add to his forward options after Michail Antonio was overused at times in the 2021/22 campaign.

Scamacca would be a marquee signing and a massive statement of intent from the Hammers if they managed to get a deal over the line for the 23-year-old.

Scamacca scored 16 goals in Serie A last season and has become one of Europe’s hottest properties.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth revealed on Tuesday 12 July (via Twitter) that PSG are also interested in the striker, although they are unwilling to pay the asking price.

West Ham

If the Hammers can fight off the French giants for Scamacca then fans can begin to get excited about the club’s ambitions for the coming years.

This summer was crucial for Moyes to lay down a real statement of intent and luring Scamacca to the London Stadium would make the Hammer’s intentions very clear.

This would be a huge signing if the Hammers can pull it off and a real boost for the fans heading into the new season.
