Samuel Iling Junior expected to quit Juventus as West Ham United transfer development emerges on 1 January

West Ham United attacker target Samuel Iling-Junior is expected to leave Juventus in the January transfer window, according to The Telegraph

The UK newspaper outlet (1 January) has shared that the young Englishman dubbed the next Paul Pogba by Serie A expert Alvise Cagnazzo [Daily Mail, 5 August] is expected to leave the Serie A giants this summer.

The Hammers approached Juventus to sign the talented England under-21 international [Graeme Bailey, 1 September] and could again be a target for the East Londoners this month, as reported by The Telegraph.

Iling-Junior, who moved to the Italian side from Premier League club Chelsea in 2020, has made just eight Serie A appearances this season with his current deal expected to run to a close in the summer of 2025.

Get him in, bargain!

West Ham United were superb in the transfer market last summer, securing deals for Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, Mohammed Kudus and defender Konstantinos Mavropanos but David Moyes still needs to bolster his attacking weaponry five months on.

Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals and Danny Ings are all rumoured to be leaving the London Stadium this month and have all failed to impress Moyes or the Hammers faithful all season so far.

Moyes is desperately short of attacking talent should they all leave, and with Kudus out of action for the African Cup of Nations with Ghana, it would be very wise for West Ham United to invest in a winger, for the short-term at least.

There may be no better option than Iling-Junior and given his current contract situation, the East Londoners may be able to snap up a bargain deal or even get him on a short loan, and test him before having the option to buy later.

He’s direct, fast, tricky and has a decent final ball on him too, something West Ham United have been missing for a long while and at such a young age there is plenty of room for development and coaching from the likes of the Hammers.

A no-brainer.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are ready to let one ace leave in January.
