Sami Mokbel shares if West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen will make England squad for Euro 2024
West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen is expected to be included in England’s provisional squad ahead of Euro 2024, according to Sami Mokbel.
The Daily Mail journalist reported via X on Tuesday (21 May) that the 27-year-old who has impressed for the Hammers this term is expected to be named by Gareth Southgate ahead of this summer’s tournament.
Southgate will name his provisional squad at 2pm with Ajax midfielder Jordan Henderson expected to miss out and Chelsea defender Levi Colwill set to be included due to the current injury crisis in the Three Lions’ backline.
Will West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen go to Euro 2024 with England?
It would have been ridiculous if Bowen had not at least been included in the initial squad ahead of this summer’s tournament as he has been one of the best forwards in the Premier League this term, particularly of the English players.
He may not be quite as complete a player as the likes of Bukayo Saka or Phil Foden, but he has been effective under David Moyes and a consistent source of goals and that alone should help him make the squad.
Whether or not he will be able to do enough in the training camp to convince Southgate to include him in the final squad that makes the trip to Germany remains to be seen, but he must be in with a reasonable chance.
There will always be those who suggest that Marcus Rashford is more deserving of a place, but his form for Manchester United this season has been nowhere near the level that Bowen has produced week in and week out for the Hammers.
Hopefully, the West Ham star will be given a fair crack of the whip to stake his claim for a place over the next few weeks.
