Sam Allardyce gushes over Jarrod Bowen as West Ham United spend detailed by Tim Sherwood

Sam Allardyce has labelled West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen “one of the best signings ever in the Premier League”.

Bowen has been superb since joining the Hammers from Hull City in January 2020 and has evolved into the club’s talisman.

Allardyce has been impressed by the Englishman’s impact since moving to London and was wowed even further when Tim Sherwood revealed that only £12million was paid for his services.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Podcast, Allardyce said: “I mean, Bowen, wow. One of the best signings ever in the Premier League? From was it Hull City?

“And goals galore, never mind assists.”

West Ham United unearthed a gem in Jarrod Bowen

When West Ham signed Bowen from Championship side Hull, it is unlikely that anyone could have predicted how important the winger would go on to become for his new side.

He has netted 59 goals across all competitions for the Hammers, including 42 in the Premier League, while 30 of his 37 assists have also come in the league.

His most important strike to date, though, is undoubtedly the winning goal in the Europa Conference League final in Prague last season, scored in the 90th minute to hand West Ham a 2-1 victory and a first trophy in 43 years.

David Moyes will need something similar from his star forward – should he be fit to start – in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals against Bayer Leverkusen, where the Irons trail 2-0 on aggregate after a first-leg defeat in Germany.

If he can inspire an unlikely comeback against their undefeated opponents, Bowen will cement himself further in West Ham folklore.
