Said Benrahma medical update emerges as Sky Sports share breaking West Ham United transfer update on Deadline Day

Said Benrahma is now on the way to France for his medical ahead of a move from West Ham to Lyon before the transfer window shuts, according to Sky Sports.

The French side have agreed a deal with the Hammers to sign the Algerian in recent days but the transaction has dragged into Deadline Day with the attacker said to have been unsure of the move.

The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under David Moyes at the London Stadium and was sent off in his last appearance as the Irons were knocked out of the FA Cup by Bristol City.

It was reported live on Sky Sports News: “We’ve got some breaking news for you from West Ham. Said Benrahma is on his way to France for a medical for Lyon.

“This is a loan with an obligation to buy and it’s a deal worth more than £15million in total. There are still a few details to be finalised but there is growing optimism that a deal can be struck before the French window closes at 10pm this evening.”

Tight

If everyone is now apparently on board with getting the deal done it will prove to be a major frustration if it cannot be sealed inside the French deadline, with at least 24 hours having passed since he was given permission to travel.

The Irons have been pushing to sign a replacement at Benrahma’s position but deals for both Ibrahim Osman from FC Nordsjaelland and Jota from Al-Ittihad collapsed.

David Moyes won’t want to come out of the window weaker than he went in with regards to his attacking options so the club will likely be pushing right up until 11pm to find a new recruit.

If Benrahma has played his last game for West Ham then his goal in the Europa Conference League final will likely be his crowning achievement in May.

The arrival of the likes of Mohammed Kudus and James Ward-Prowse in the summer reduced his playing time with Moyes having often flipped him in and out of the side as it was.

Tim Stiedten’s arrival has precipitated an overhaul of the playing staff and it appears Benrahma isn’t part of the German’s plans.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have given up their previous demands and another exit is also now on the cards.
