Said Benrahma expected to be fit for West Ham United vs Brighton – exWHUemployee

Said Benrahma is expected to be ‘in contention’ to return for West Ham when they face Brighton on the final day of the season, according to ExWHUemployee.

The Algerian international picked up an ankle injury during the 4-0 win over Norwich and was ultimately ruled out of the 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday [May 15].

Now speaking on his podcast via his Patreon account [May 16], Ex has revealed that Benrahma has been back in training and should be available again for the trip to the AMEX Stadium on Sunday [May 22].

West Ham

“He [Benrahma] should be in contention for the Brighton game, which is obviously important because he got a couple of goals against Norwich,” he said.

“So it will be nice for him to try and finish the season in that current frame of form.

“So that should be the case, as far as I know there were no injuries picked up against Manchester City.”

Boost

It’s always nice to have a fully fit squad to choose from for the final day, and it’ll be a boost to have him back as we look to try and secure sixth place with a win.

Moyes’ side need three points to have any chance of Europa League football next season, as they currently sit two points behind Manchester United. Anything less than a win would mean the club definitely features in the Europa Conference League next season.

Benrahma looked to be at his best in the 4-1-4-1 formation Moyes deployed against Norwich and performed brilliantly before his injury, so hopefully he is able to return in that same vein of form.

It’s been a tough season overall for the 26-year-old as he’s been in and out of the side due to his hot and cold form, but ending the season positively can only help him in his chances for next season.
