Said Benrahma could be next to exit West Ham United as teammate terms agreed at London Stadium

Said Benrahma could be next to exit West Ham United after Thilo Kehrer agreed terms with Ligue 1 giants Monaco, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reported on its website (4 January) that the German defender is on the verge of completing an initial loan move away from the London Stadium, which can then be made permanent in the summer for £9.5million.

West Ham are keen to cut wages this month ahead of any new incomings and Benrahma is one player expected to follow Kehrer out of East London, with David Moyes keen on signing a new left-winger this month.

The Algerian winger is contracted with the Hammers until the end of the 2024/25 season and should the right buyer come in for his this month, he could help raise some vital funds for potential incomings.

On the move

Although it doesn’t seem clear where and when Benrahma could be heading this January, it seems almost certain that the 28-year-old will not be a West Ham United player when February rolls around.

The Algerian has become a bit part player at the London Stadium this season and has made only five starts in the Premier League. Even when he has been picked by Moyes he has struggled to make the desired impact, only registering a single assist.

With the introduction of Mohammed Kudus during the summer transfer window, the pecking order at the London Stadium was always going to shift slightly and Benrahma is a victim of that change. He has almost become surplus to requirements.

The 28-year-old only has 18 months left on his contract with the Hammers and this window represents the Hammers’ last real opportunity to earn a reasonable fee for his services. They need to find him a potential suitor so they can reinvest that money elsewhere before the end of the month.

In other West Ham news, one Sky Sports journalist has urged the Hammers to sign an England international striker this January
