Ryan Fredericks training separately from West Ham main group

West Ham right-back Ryan Fredericks has been spotted training alone after he picked up an injury in the victory against Manchester United.

The 28-year-old provided the assist for Manuel Lanzini’s winner as the Hammers dumped the Red Devils out of the League Cup last week, but he limped out just afterwards.

Fredericks suffered a thigh injury and missed last weekend’s trip to Leeds United.

It remains to be seen whether he will be available for Thursday’s Europa League clash with Rapid Wien or the league game against Brentford at the weekend, but he is back at Rush Green.

Football.London’s West Ham correspondent Thomas Clark took to his personal Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon to share a clip of the full-back in training.

He said: “Away from the main group, but Ryan Fredericks is out running and having an individual session.”

Good news?

Fredericks has been plagued by injuries since joining the Hammers in 2018, and he is now unavailable for the 10th time as a result of another blow.

He has missed over 300 days due to his constant knocks [Transfer Markt], and David Moyes was forced to bring in Vladimir Coufal last summer.

While the Czech Republic international has since established himself as the first-choice right-back, West Ham need covers in the position given the number of games and competitions they are playing in this term.

They could do with Fredericks’ quality and experience, and hopefully, he is back in action sooner rather than later.

The next two games could come too soon for him despite his return to training, and the international break should give him ample time to recover fully.

The defender has the quality to become a top player, but frequent visits to the treatment table have limited his development.

Hopefully, he can get over his injury woes soon.
