Ryan Fredericks suffered thigh injury v Manchester United

West Ham right-back Ryan Fredericks suffered a thigh injury against Manchester United, according to Claret and Hugh.

A few minutes after setting up Manuel Lanzini’s goal which eventually was the winner in the game, Fredericks had to be withdrawn and was replaced by Vladimir Coufal.

It’s now been revealed that it’s a thigh injury and the club are awaiting the results of the scan this week.

The C&H report on September 23 read, “A Hammers insider revealed that Fredericks had suffered a thigh injury and that the club was hoping to get the results of the scan later today (Thursday) or tomorrow.”

Big blow

With Leeds United to play on Saturday, it does not look likely that he will be back in time to feature in that contest.

Fredericks’ brief 17-minute display on Wednesday night showed just how important he was to this West Ham side.

While he may not be good enough to start over Coufal, he’s more than capable to put in a shift in the Czech international’s absence.

He’s an attack-minded right-back who is a decent crosser of the ball and combines extremely well with the players around him.

Having someone like him in reserve would certainly see the manager rest easy in case Coufal ever suffers a long-term injury blow.

However, with Fredericks’ fitness worries of his own, one may wonder if the Hammers must consider signing a replacement for him.

According to Claret and Hugh, he was up for sale in the summer and he could well be on his way in the coming months if his fitness continues to let him down.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 28-year-old.
