Ryan Fredericks set to return for West Ham v Everton

West Ham are expected to welcome back the services of Ryan Fredericks against Everton, according to Claret and Hugh.

The right-back suffered an injury in the Carabao Cup win over Manchester United and has not played since then.

However, the club believe he could return to the starting eleven should Vladimir Coufal not be fit in time.

Good news

Fredericks looked like he was on his way out this summer, but the fact that he’s stayed at the club means that David Moyes sees him as an option.

He’s not better than Coufal and may be third in the pecking order soon given Ben Johnson’s rise, but he is still an important utility player who can deputise when needed.

Everton play with an out and out winger and an overlapping left-back so whoever starts in the right-back position for the Hammers is going to have his work cut out.

While Coufal is preferable, we’re confident that Fredericks can put in a shift on both ends of the pitch.

Against Man United, he provided a “magnificent” assist, per Claret and Hugh, for the Manuel Lanzini winner.

He’s 28 so he’s unlikely to be at the London Stadium for too long but as long as he is, the Hammers must make full use of his services.
