Ryan Fredericks likely to leave West Ham United on free transfer this summer – ExWHUemployee
Ryan Fredericks is likely to leave West Ham at the end of the season when his contract expires because of his high wages, according to ExWHUemployee.
The right-back is out of contract once the season ends, but the club retain an option to extend the deal by another 12 months and are currently weighing up their options.
But according to Ex on his Patreon account [May 16] while a final decision hasn’t been made yet he has been told that it’s more likely the former Fulham man moves on, although a deal could be reached if he lowered his current wage.

“In terms of Fredericks he has the option of one more year to stay at West Ham,” he said.
“I think the club are currently weighing up what to do. I was told that the chances are that he will leave because he is on a high wage, not as high as Yarmolenko’s, but a high wage. It’s around £70-75,000 [per week].
“Realistically if you think about it, he’s third-choice right-back and that doesn’t include the fact we’ve got Ashby who’s highly-rated as well.
“Coufal and Johnson are ahead of him at right-back, Cresswell and Johnson are probably ahead of him for left-back. He’s [29] now so do you pay that much for someone who’s essentially a back-up player?
“That’s the decision the club are making. If he was prepared to cut his wages significantly there’s a chance he might do a deal, but whether that will happen or not I don’t know.”
Time to go
Fredericks was a good signing at the time he came in, where we needed fresh blood and options in the squad that could provide competition.

But as it stands the team has moved on from him and he’s no longer good enough to be a member of this squad on a regular basis when you consider where the team wants to be.
The wages he is reportedly on are incredibly high for this club, nevermind for someone who has only managed to make seven appearances in the Premier League this season.
It’s time to let him go instead of being sentimental and put the money saved towards a replacement or helping to bolster the squad elsewhere while using the excellent academy to bring through a youngster.
He’s blocking the pathway of a young talent right now and the club have the perfect opportunity to move on from him now without having to find a buyer, so they should do it.
