Ryan Fredericks could replace Ben Johnson for West Ham United v Liverpool – report

West Ham United defender Ben Johnson is now facing the axe ahead of the trip to Liverpool, according to Claret and Hugh.

The online source share that the youngster could be dropped after failing to catch the eye in the FA Cup defeat at Southampton.

It is reported that Ryan Fredericks could come in despite his numerous shockers in the Premier League this season.

West Ham

Fredericks has been missing from action in recent weeks.

The right-back suffered a low-grade groin injury in the draw with Newcastle, and it is said that he has made a decent recovery.

Moyes now has a decision to make, with Vladimir Coufal out for the foreseeable future at the London Stadium.

Consistency will also be wanted, and constant changing will not help the cause of anyone fighting for that spot.

West Ham

Challenge.

Whoever takes that role at Anfield is set for a very busy afternoon.

Luis Diaz has been starting in that left-hand side role and has made a real impact since arriving from Porto in January.

As well as that, there will be the constant switching and changing between the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane to deal with.

Fredericks has been far less consistent than Johnson this season, and it would come across as very harsh if the younger man is dropped.

It is reported that Fredericks is almost certain to quit the Hammers in the summer when his current deal is up [Claret and Hugh].

Placing trust in him over someone who the club is desperate to keep would be a poor move, and hopefully Moyes gets it right.
