Roshane Thomas: Rob Newman brilliant appointment at West Ham
West Ham have made a ‘brilliant’ appointment by tempting Rob Newman to leave Manchester City to move to London, claims Roshane Thomas.
Newman began his role as head of recruitment in September after he officially signed for the Hammers a month earlier.
He’s previously managed Southend United and Cambridge United, and was the former assistant manager at Bournemouth.

In his mailbag for The Athletic, Thomas wrote, “Since returning in December 2019 for a second spell as West Ham manager, Moyes has been keen to enhance the recruitment department.
“Hiring new head of recruitment Newman from Manchester City is a brilliant appointment.”
Good move
The recruitment has dramatically improved under Moyes so it’s only fair that the club allow him to make changes behind the scenes.
Newman comes to the London Stadium with an extensive CV and his contacts in the game would certainly help the Hammers sign a higher calibre of player.

He was involved in the first-team recruitment at Manchester City, and the side they’ve built has left most if not all teams in awe.
While he may not get the credit for it, he played a massive role and we’re hoping that he can have a similar influence at West Ham.
Previously, he’s also scouted younger players and is capable of speaking in French and Spanish – adding many feathers to an already glittering cap.
We cannot wait to see the kinds of players he brings through the door at the club and hopefully, it begins with a quality striker in January.
