Rory Jennings slams West Ham United transfer policy live on talkSPORT in ‘total pig’s ear’ verdict
West Ham have made a “total pig’s ear of their transfer policy this summer, according to talkSPORT pundit Rory Jennings.
The Hammers have only brought in youngster Sean Moore from Northern Irish club Cliftonville in the current window.
And in terms of exits this summer, senior players Declan Rice and Manuel Lanzini have both left the East London outfit.

“It doesn’t make any sense,” Jennings said live on talkSPORT. “I actually think West Ham have made a total pig’s ear of their entire transfer policy this window. They had the perfect opportunity to reimagine and reinvent their squad.
“They knew that they were going to lose Declan Rice, but they also knew that they were going to make a small fortune on him, and they could have used that money, reinvested it and actually gone into the new season on the crest of a wave.
“They’ve won European silverware, they’re playing in the Europa League. The feeling around the club hasn’t been better for decades. And now, they’re all feeling fairly underwhelmed.”

Time running out
The powers that be at West Ham won’t exactly be panicking at this stage of the summer transfer window, but they do need to get a move on if the club are to have any chance of some success next season.
The loss of Rice to Premier League rivals Arsenal will be their main concern, with the club losing their leader both on and off the pitch, as well as losing their star player.
He has left a huge gap in the heart of midfield, one that David Moyes is yet to fill as the new season rapidly approaches.
Even the loss of Lanzini upon the expiry of his contract in East London will be a concern, with West Ham needing a huge squad if they are to compete on all fronts next time out.
New players have more than likely been identified, but getting them to come to the London Stadium has so far proved unsuccessful.
