Roma step up Gianluca Scamacca West Ham United transfer pursuit
Roma have stepped up their pursuit of West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to the Daily Mail.
It’s believed the Serie A side have identified the 24-year-old as a potential target and are looking to offer him a return to Italy (The Daily Mail, 12 June).
Scamacca scored eight goals in all competitions for the Hammers, including three in the triumphant Conference League campaign.

Hold fire
West Ham should hold fire on this one. Scamacca, without a doubt, has a lot to give in a claret and blue shirt. The 24-year-old has been unlucky with injury and it would be a shame for the Hammers to give up on their big-money investment.
He’s shown glimpses of quality and his goal return is decent considering his limited number of games. The task for David Moyes is to work out a way of fitting the Italian into his plans.

With Michail Antonio ageing and Danny Ings are bit-part player, there’s certainly an opportunity for Scamacca to make an impression next season. He’s still relatively young and will undoubtedly go on to be a success if he does return to his homeland.
For Moyes, getting the forward up to speed could save him plenty of work in the transfer market. The Hammers could well be set for another summer of transition with Declan Rice likely to depart during the off-season.
Ensuring the midfielder is replaced adequately and the rest of the squad is strengthened is a must ahead of another hectic campaign.
