Robinson destroys ‘silly’ West Ham man

West Ham United striker Albian Ajeti hasn’t gotten much of an opportunity for the club since his move from Basel last summer.

The Swiss international is yet to find the back of the net for his new side, of course, although his lack of starts is surely a contributing factor there.

Still, when he’s gotten on the pitch he’s not made much of an impact. He was given another shot off the bench in the 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday, but yet again failed to make an impression.

Indeed, his most memorable moment was when he appeared to push his head into Toffees defender Mason Holgate’s, something former England international Paul Robinson feels he was lucky to get away with.

“You can’t do that! Especially with VAR, you can’t do anything,” the ex ‘keeper said to Football Insider of the incident.

“So he was very very lucky not to get sent off, and especially as he has played very few minutes this year, and very little football so you don’t want to be coming on and getting sent off.

“So it was a very silly move on his behalf, to run the risk of being sent off.”

Is Robinson right about this incident?

It depends how you look at it, really. Was it a full-on headbutt with the intent to cause Holgate genuine harm? Absolutely not.

However, when you make a movement like that with your head you’re asking for trouble. It was certainly something Ajeti could have avoided.

Still, it’s not the worst thing in the world, is it? Yet Robinson’s right. He’s a struggling player, he needs to get on with his game and nothing else.
