Robinson claims West Ham regular is a ‘different player’ under Moyes

West Ham United manager David Moyes hasn’t done a whole lot better than Manuel Pellegrini just yet, but there have been incremental improvements.

Certain players have looked much improved, while the defensive organisation does look to be superior to under the Chilean.

One man who is thought to have gotten better under the Scot’s watch is left back Aaron Cresswell.

Former England international Paul Robinson certainly feels that the 30-year-old has come into his own of late.

I think Cresswell’s got a lot better this season,” he told Football Insider. “I think he had a slow start to the season but I think he’s got better. I think the new manager coming in, he looks a different player.

“The new manager bounce, the new manager impact, he’s a completely different manager to what they had before in Pellegrini and we’ve seen the effect a new manager can have on the team and on players.

“Certain players will respond differently to different manager, different discipline and rules and I think you might find that at West Ham.”

Is Robinson right, here?

If you look at Cresswell’s WhoScored ratings since Moyes returned to the club, they read: 7.03, 6.74 and 6.92.

That’s not incredible form, but it’s certainly solid enough. Given Arthur Masuaku’s inconsistent form this term, it’s undoubtedly been enough to keep him in the starting XI.

But Robinson’s overselling it, here. The former Ipswich Town man has not got A LOT better. He’s been fine, not much more than that.
