Rob Edwards could be eyed up for West Ham United job as Luton Town exit mooted
Sam Matterface has suggested Luton Town boss Rob Edwards could be eyed up by West Ham as the ideal replacement for David Moyes.
Edwards has earned widespread praise for guiding Luton into the Premier League and giving them a fighting chance of staying up.
Moyes, meanwhile, looks set to depart London Stadium when his current contract expires in a little over a month’s time.
Discussing Edwards on talkSPORT’s Premier League All Access podcast [26 April, 42m 26s], Matterface said: “Do you think he’d suit someone like West Ham?
“Do you know what I mean? It feels like a West Ham type of thing to do. He may well get eyed up by West Ham United.”
Journalist Alex Crook then suggested Gary O’Neil could be a better option for United, saying: “I think Edwards is more likely to go to Wolves if Gary O’Neil ends up at West Ham.”
West Ham managerial candidates
Many of the names mentioned with the Irons job – which we do have to remind ourselves is technically not yet vacant – have got the juices flowing.
Someone like Thomas Tuchel or Ruben Amorim could very well take the Irons to the next level, although the latter quite clearly appears to have just wasted the club’s time.
Other names, meanwhile, are less inspiring. You can understand the thinking of Matterface in that Edwards plays an entertaining style of football and is certainly likeable.

If the Hammers are to part company with one of their most successful ever managers, though, then you need to do better than bringing in a manager from a bottom-three team.
You would like to imagine that David Sullivan and Co are working tirelessly behind the scenes to find a replacement, even if Moyes has yet to decide on his future. If that man is to be Edwards, there will be a lot of unhappy Hammers fans.
In other West Ham news, the stance of United fans is justified after comments made by Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp.
