Richard Keys shares David Moyes sack verdict at West Ham United
Richard Keys has supported David Moyes and his most recent comments after a 2-0 West Ham defeat to Nottingham Forest at The City Ground on Saturday 17 February.
Following the loss, the Scot defended his tenure at the London Stadium, arguing that it “would be hard to say” that West Ham fans have experienced better times with the club, having won the Europa Conference League last season. [The Athletic]
Keys doubled down on this view, supporting Moyes, despite the Hammers marking eight matches in all competitions without a victory and sack talk increasing.
Writing via his personal blog on Monday [19 February], he said: “And a word of warning for West Ham supporters.
“I accept that they’ve got every right to express their frustration with recent results, but David Moyes is right – the Hammers have never had an era as good as the one that Moyes has delivered.
“I’ve said it before – be careful what you wish for.”
Is Richard Keys right about David Moyes at West Ham United?
Keys very much could be right with his comments. Moyes has accomplished so much in his second stint as West Ham manager, lifting the club’s first European trophy in decades.
The 60-year-old has earned the respect at the London Stadium, having led the Hammers to within touching distance of the top-four spots this season and the chance at more European success.
However, football is a results-based sport, and Moyes’ side are struggling to find any decent results, without a win since their 2-0 win over Arsenal in December, enraging a large number of fans.

Being knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship outlet Bristol City will be the most embarrassing of the recent defeats, even despite being hammered by Manchester United and the Gunners in 3-0 and 6-0 losses, respectively.
Winless since the turn of the New Year, the London side have conceded 16 goals in eight matches, while only scoring four in the same period. The manager is likely to remain in his position until the end of the campaign, but the season could be ruined by that point.
