Richard Keys makes new West Ham United top-four prediction
Richard Keys has made an ambitious prediction about West Ham United this season after an exciting transfer window in East London.
Speaking live on Super Saturday on beIN Sports, as shared on X [17 August], host Keys made the call that the Hammers could give it a good go to sneak into the top four due to doubts over other clubs.
Tim Steidten has so far delivered an exciting transfer window at the London Stadium since the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as head coach, and they face potential competitors Aston Villa this weekend in their Premier League opener.
On air with Andy Gray and Jason McAteer, Keys raised doubts over other top-four contenders are added: “What I’m saying is, if West Ham want to have a run at the top four, they can.
“There are so many ifs, buts and maybes, it’s impossible to call.”
Could West Ham United compete for top four in Premier League?
West Ham United fans have reason to be excited, with a new era taking very little time to pick up pace – Steidten is basically revolutionising the squad.
The past couple of weeks’ transfers have really made folk stand up and take notice of the Irons under Lopetegui, and any potential teething problems with so many new and important players will have to be ironed out quickly.
If that does turn out to be the case and Lopetegui’s side enjoy a solid start to the campaign, there is no reason why they can’t get a run at it – they do not have the distractions that the likes of Aston Villa do, who they face Saturday (17 August) teatime.
Manchester City and Arsenal are widely considered to be the top two for a third season – in either order – and beyond that, it could be somewhat of a free-for-all.
As always, there will be surprise packages – and the ambition shown by the Hammers means it could turn out to be an unforgettable season should everything align.
