Richard Keys issues David Moyes sack verdict at West Ham United amid Roberto De Zerbi claim

West Ham would’ve sacked David Moyes if his form was as bad as that of Roberto De Zerbi’s at Brighton, who could be replaced by Brentford’s Thomas Frank.

That’s according to Richard Keys, who claims that Frank is the man in line to replace the Italian who will be leaving at the end of the season.

The Seagulls have won just six of their last 28 games and are now unlikely to qualify for Europe.

The beIN Sports presenter wrote in his blog on 29 April: “At Brighton Roberto De Zerbi continues to write his resignation letter. After the defeat to Bournemouth he returned to a now familiar theme – but with a little bit of a twist.

“We already knew he doesn’t believe Brighton match his ambition (honestly – the arrogance) but now he’s turned on his players, who he says, ‘lack motivation’. Wow. It’s over.

“Brighton’s latest defeat means that only Sheff U, Burnley and Forest have a worse record than theirs this season. They’ve won just six of their last 28. If Sean Dyche, David Moyes or any other domestic coach had a record like that there would be screams for them to be sacked.

“The Italian will leave at the end of the season – I’m hearing to be replaced by Thomas Frank, who can think himself unlucky not to have been linked with bigger jobs. Liverpool? Why not?”

West Ham nearly sacked David Moyes last season

Moyes’ tenure at the London Stadium was indeed under scrutiny last season, particularly due to the team’s performance in the Premier League.

However, the situation was significantly mitigated by their impressive run in Europe, which provided a buffer against the criticism and pressure that would have otherwise led to calls for his replacement.

West Ham’s form in the Premier League last season was a cause for concern, with the team struggling to replicate the successes of previous seasons.

This form was comparable to what De Zerbi is currently experiencing at Brighton.

The Europa Conference League triumph in June was a historic achievement for the club, marking their first major trophy win in 43 years.

This success highlighted Moyes’ ability to guide the team to glory on the European stage, despite their difficulties in the Premier League.

West Ham manager David Moyes
David Moyes will manage West Ham United for the final time against Manchester City on May 19.

However, much like Brighton, there needs to be a change at the helm in East London as well in the summer.

In other West Ham news, the club have been handed a major boost in appointing David Moyes’ replacement as a manager has made his future intentions clear.
