Richard Keys blasts Karren Brady after West Ham manager sack decision

West Ham chief Karren Brady has been blasted by Richard Keys for allowing David Moyes to leave.

The Scottish manager left the Hammers at the end of the 2023/24 season after not signing a new contract.

He was replaced by Julen Lopetegui in the summer and the Spaniard is under severe pressure after a poor start to his reign at the London Stadium.

The former Sky Sports presenter criticised Brady in his blog after the 5-0 hammering against Liverpool, saying: “On the subject of West Ham – how clever Karen and co must be wishing they hadn’t treated David Moyes with so much contempt.”

West Ham had to make Moyes decision

The Irons had no choice but to let Moyes walk at the end of last season, the relationship between him and the club was untenable.

The former Everton boss had led the club to sixth and seventh-placed finishes in the Premier League and guided the club to a first trophy since 1980.

Despite winning the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023, the Scot came under criticism for his style of play and his stance on youth development and he was not happy that the club were planning to wait until the end of the season to offer him a new contract.

The Athletic revealed on 15 February that 75 per cent of Irons fans surveyed did not believe that the East London club should renew his contract.

If a manager loses the fans, it is nearly impossible to get them back on board, therefore the Hammers moved on to former Wolves boss Lopetegui and backed him heavily in the transfer market.

He could well find himself in the same situation as Moyes if results continue to disappoint and Brady and co may be looking for a new manager sooner rather than later.
