Rice shows touch of class with Bowen message after West Ham defeat
Declan Rice was quick to dismiss Jarrod Bowen’s apology after his 94th-minute miss for West Ham.
Bowen had the chance to equalise in the dying seconds of the game, but he fired the ball over the crossbar with his chest with David Moyes saying the chance was easier to score than miss.
The Hammers won’t be holding any grudges with the Englishman with Bowen their standout performer this season on nine goals and ten assists in all competitions this season.

He said on Instagram after the game: “The highs & lows of football. I’m devastated with today I can only apologise to the fans and my teammates for getting it wrong & get ready to put it right next weekend,”
Hammers teammate Declan Rice replied: “Getting what wrong? Your goals have been the difference for us bro. We go again brother.”
Young leader
It was cripplingly disappointing not to come away with anything from the game, especially with Bowen’s chance right at the end but that’s football.
If it hasn’t already, all will be forgotten by Irons fans when the 25-year-old scores in West Ham’s next game.
He is the man in form at the London Stadium and has certainly earned the team more points than he has lost them and will continue to do so which is why any harsh criticism is unnecessary.
Something that West Ham captain, Declan Rice, more than understands. He showed everyone yet again what a class act he is on and off the pitch.
His support will do the world of good for Bowen and at 23 he is already doing a great job as captain.
Rice recognises Bowen’s importance to the team and how vital it is that a severe miss leading to a loss doesn’t derail the former Hull City players scintillating form.
The support Rice shows his teammates through thick and thin is top class.
