Reports: West Ham table offer for Junior Firpo, FC Barcelona prepared to sell

West Ham have reportedly tabled an offer for exit-linked left-back Junior Firpo as they’re looking to strengthen in that department in the summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo (June 24, Pg. 18), West Ham and Southampton have made offers to sign Firpo this summer as they’re looking to capitalise on Barcelona’s situation and strengthen their sides for next season.

Per another report in Mundo Deportivo (19 June, Pg. 22), AC Milan were also keen on the player and the Spaniard preferred a move to Italy over the Premier League.

However, thus far, there’s been no official bid from the Milan outfit, but they’re still understood to be the favourites despite the offers from the English duo.

Getting interesting

Milan initially weren’t in a position to buy him outright, which put us ahead of them in the race for Firpo, but they’re now considering making him an offer to sign him permanently.

This only makes things that much more interesting as Barcelona could then look to spike a bidding war as three teams are realistically pursuing the full-back’s services.

The Daily Mail believe Barcelona are looking for a fee in the region of £14 million to sell the player, but it could go up in the coming weeks if Milan show a real interest in pursuing his services.

However, we’re hoping that he heads to the London Stadium this summer as he would be a vital addition to our squad and walk straight into our playing eleven.

Aaron Creswell may have had a decent season, but he’s already 31 and is unlikely to get any better in the future.

Having someone like Firpo with Creswell playing as his backup will give us vital squad depth as we’re going to be needing it should we progress and play in the latter stages of the Europa League.
