Report: West Ham plot move for ‘abandoned’ Real Madrid duo in January

West Ham United are plotting a move for Real Madrid duo Luka Jovic and Mariano in the January window, according to Defensa Central.

The Spanish outlet claim that the Irons are eager to add to their options in the final third despite being pleased with Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller.

It is suggested that David Moyes would only be interested in a move for one and that both have been “abandoned” by Madrid.

Looking at the report, any move could be a risk, given that Zinedine Zidane no longer trusts either due to their performances.

Madrid would prefer to sell either of the forward options, with loan moves looking unlikely during the January window.

Mariano appears to be against the idea of leaving Madrid at this stage, something that can’t be said for Jovic.

The Serbian scored for his country in their recent defeat against Scotland and is open in his search for more regular minutes.

Jovic is clearly the obvious choice.

Everyone remembers his incredible partnership with Haller back at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he managed to score 25 goals and assist a further five.

The 22-year-old was on fire, and when Haller joined the Irons, in the same year, he moved to Madrid, although that hasn’t been much of a success.

Jovic has only completed 160 minutes of action so far this season, and he could be available for a cut-price given Zidane’s “loss of trust.”

The forward needs somewhere to resurge his career, and the London Stadium and the chance to recreate his partnership with Haller could be the perfect chance.
