Report: West Ham may need to sell key player to spend big in transfer window

The future of Declan Rice will always be a tricky subject at West Ham United.

David Moyes and the Irons obviously want the England sensation to stay at the London Stadium, but there will come a time where he needs to leave.

West Ham once again struggled in the Premier League, with the likes of Chelsea circling top talents such as Rice with the temptation of Champions League football.

The Hammers need to strengthen if they want to improve next season, but the harsh reality for Moyes is that he must sell players in order to bring any in.

Rice could be sacrificed for that to happen.

The Sun have now reported that with Chelsea interested, West Ham would find it hard to reject any offer that was near their £70million valuation.

That sum would then be pumped back into the squad, but Moyes would be without his standout player from the past two seasons.

Rice has formed a great partnership with Tomas Soucek in the second half of last season, with the Czech international now permanently signed.

According to the report, it is now increasingly likely that the Hammers will let Rice leave if a good offer comes in for him.

Moyes is ready for a clearout but would prefer to let the likes of Fabian Balbuena, Manuel Lanzini and Felipe Anderson leave the club first.

£70million is a lot of money, but Rice is indispensable to the Irons and Moyes should consider that before making any decision.
