Report: West Ham interested in move for John Lundstram
West Ham United are interested in a move for Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram, according to the Mirror.
The newspaper have reported on their website that the Irons could make a move in January in a cut-price deal due to his contract problems at Bramall Lane.
Lundstram has rejected a new contract from the Blades and looks likely to leave in January with Rangers also interested.
Chris Wilder has been left baffled and frustrated by the decision of the midfielder after he was offered a lucrative new deal.
“It has been frustrating for me personally,” he said. “I wanted John to stop here. We have discussed for a few months about him stopping.
“We have offered him an attractive contract, up there with the top players at the club.”
Lundstram has been a mainstay for the Blades this season, featuring in all six games in the Premier League, completing 500 minutes.
Everything about this potential deal screams David Gold and David Sullivan.
The two Hammers owners aren’t known for splashing the cash dramatically, as they proved over the summer, frustrating the fans.
With Lundstram rejecting a new contract, Sheffield United will need to accept some sort of offer in January or they will run the risk of losing their midfielder for nothing in the summer.
The Irons made the signing of Tomas Soucek in January last season, and the introduction of the Blades mainstay could be smart business.
With Mark Noble having less of an impact at the London Stadium, bringing in the younger, fresher legs could be a brilliant move by Moyes.
